Nationalist pride
I was visiting my cuz this morning when he made me watch this clip from youtube.com I didn't understand everything about what she said but something about her voice and the way she seems to convey her message pulled at me. So, can y'all help me out in translating the whole thing? Much appreciated to anyone who does.

Basically, this poetic communication is a platform reversed for Somali female poets and is called Buraanbur. This woman's piece is about patriotic and nationalist concerns, especially appealing to the vast number of Somalis who abandoned their country to live abroad. Somalis who keep saying that they want peace but yet again refuse all efforts made to bring peace-such as the creation of the TFG government in Somalia and the selection of Abdullahi Yussuf as its President. The woman goes back to the struggles of colonization and wars in the name of the Somali nation, which has as a result shed the blood of many Somalis. She complains about earlier wrong doing in the history of Somalia and wants some corrections.

Thanks Twoadv. I seem to meeting people who keep reminding me of my need to visit somalia. Today I went to chill @ my moms and there was another "abti" there. He was telling me about his daughter and how she was going back to Africa. Its the first time in a while that I sat down with an elder not to mention he was picking off my wings from my plate.
u sure abt the rumour? My cuz does SOMTV in MN and was thinking of getting her but he didn't know where to find her. If you sure then my mom can definately put the voice/face to a name and I can make this happen for my cuz!
Sister, I tried to ask around but still nothing. People seem to know the woman in general terms but I am yet to find someone who knows her or her hfamily in person. Insha-Allah I will keep asking around and maybe someone would recognise her. Any more info I'll let you know.
PS; Puting her on tv would be a good thing. She may manage to make many Somalis emotional triggering their nationalistic side. :).
