How biased can one be?

I am pissed, not mad but pissed off. I was sitting back today when a friend of mine posted a link for me to check out. It linked to a documentary that FOX channel aired. The documentary was titled; Obsession:Radical Islam's War Against the West. Is the title supposed to make me feel better that Fox takes apart my religion by separating the radical from the moderate, while in their documentary there was no moderates but only radicals shown. Prayers and khutbah's are seen as congregations of potential terrorists. No wonder we can't even pray in public places without drawing suspicion to ourselves. They talk of Arab media spreading propaganda but American media spreads more propaganda than any media outlets out there. Talk about bias. The mind boggles at the kettle calling the pot black. Lets talk about the children depicted in the video. These children were mainly from palestinians who live in a war torn country, constantly dehumanized and desensitized to the violence. I am sorry but I would have to be dumb to expect a mad person to act sane. These are people who have moved their reasoning to the far left as a reaction to the atrocities commited to them. How many of the clips were taken out of context? How much of the clips shown aren't doctored to throw Islam and immigrants in bad light? "America is being strangled by its own laws?" So, basically throw out all muslim immigrants because you don't know whom among them is a potential radical. Its absolutely revolting that a susposed news channel that should give two sides of an arguement can be so blantantly biased. Worse still is the comparison to Nazism. If anyone was really interested in finding out what motivates these acts of violence then perhaps they should do an investigation on what it is that makes a moderate muslim a radical? What must he have seen/experienced to dehumanize and desensitize him so much that he would forsake his life? Everytime I turn around these days its one thing or another about Islam. Our religion's name has being placed in the context of radical and acts of terror so much that most people can't distinguish between the two. I weep for our Ummah.

Watch Obsession.

You shouldn't be too surprised, dear. The American media is well known for peddling the govt's propaganda.

Propaganda everywhere, even here in Thailand although it is getting better by the day without our capitalist jerks (Thaksin). The question here is not if propaganda is worsening the views of islam but it is wheter islam is accepted as a philosophy by the westerners and capitalists. Since any conservative philosophy that look down on money and cherish the goodness and essense is considered as a threat to democracy, we are stuck in a world where war is made for propaganda is directed towards ideologies that deny our freedom of philosophy. Islam suffers the most because of the conflicts between christianity and islamic ideology. The society that goes into extreme tend to be suffering from constant bloodshed that forces them to create an escape through more bloodshed without even caring for thier own lifes, i believe thier base philosophy was to be accepted and not chased out of the globalization process but it turned out to be bloodshed and war because of thier hostile environment and a history where propaganda is issued againts them like the crusades and such. "Human can survive any mental state they are put into, but thier nature also change because they need to adapt to that state in which they are in" In this case, the minority, the muslims conservatives or any conservatives (look at sri lanka buddhists, the north-korea, china, soviet), all are accused of destroying the ideology of democracy forcing them to adapt in terms of war againts the accuser! I might have not cover the whole deal but this is just a thought. Hope the comment is not too long, cheers.

Actually for some odd reason Firefly FOX is owned by an Australian turned American Rupert Murdoch. He owns a lot of media outlets across the globe. Hell he owns myspace.com

Pearlsofwisdom Amin to your dua sis and somehow someway we will get through this.

Wicky Is there really much difference between Islam and Christianity? Apart from their mistaken notion of Jesus being the son of God we have the same historical roots. Manmade philosophies will forever be at odds with spiritual philosophies. Capitalism by token creates opportunites but in the same token it widens the gap between the haves and the have nots. We have become cogs that are forever wheeling and dealing, that we forget to take a minute and account for our life in a non materialistic way.

We got this TV show in Canada, hosted by Glen Beck. He has hour long TV-show aired on CNN during the evenings, Mon-Fri. What a raving luny he is. Ever since the Lenanon-Isreal war in the summer, he's been obsessed with all things Islamic. Scratch that, more like possessed... a tunnel vision to see Islam's hand behind everything if you will. He claims to be "secular" christian but his language, predilection to all things christianity flavored and apocalyptic world view give him away. Since the Lebanon war he's been on Islam's case non-stop. Too bad for him, he lost the plot and began to unravel when he started claiming that Ahmedenijad (President of Iran) would bring about the end of world as we know it and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse have been sighted.

People are suckers for this doomsday nonesense. People who are overly interested in sounding the alarms off about Islam, if studied closely, are found to dwell in eschatologically haunted world. It's money driven for the most part. Look at the smashing success of Left Behind Serious. There's viable market out there and the financial returns are too good to pass off. People who write and talk about these wacky and sometimes downright calumnious material about Islam (and other religions sometimes) make handsome living off of it. Why stop?

^^Can I ask if you are a sales person? Seriously your theories seem to always revolve around selling or something around it.

On a side note, I have heard of Glen Beck, but i can't recall in what context. I am not a TV watcher and when I do its a few minutes of indulgence aka sports. Islam seems to be the intricate fabri woven into everything these days. I was watching Babel last week and I can't recall how many times I felt irritated due to the close proximity of violence and the image of a muslim society.
